Who we are

CAD-Resource is a trading name of WWW.CAD-RESOURCE.COM LIMITED, a private limited company registered in England and Wales, company number 06121953. Our registered office is 320 Firecrest Court, Centre Park, Warrington, WA1 1RG. Our VAT number is 903445739.

We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.

You can contact us about anything in this policy by email at enquiries@cad-resource.com, by telephone on 0800 755 5426, or by WhatsApp on +44 785 005 3386.

What we collect, and why

When you ask us for a quote. Our quote form asks for your name, your email address, and optionally your company name and telephone number, together with what you can tell us about the work — the type of drawing, how many, sheet sizes, any CAD standards to follow, what you need back and when. We use this only to prepare your quote and, if you go ahead, to carry out the work. Our lawful basis is the steps you have asked us to take before entering into a contract, and then the performance of that contract.

When you send us drawings or files. To quote accurately we usually need to see something — an existing drawing, a survey, a sketch, or a photograph of one. We treat everything you send as confidential. We use it only to assess, quote for and carry out the work you have asked about, and we do not use it for anything else, show it to anyone outside the business, or use it as an example of our work without asking you first. Our lawful basis is the same as above.

We understand that a drawing you send us may belong to your own client rather than to you. We handle it accordingly.

When you contact us any other way. If you email, telephone or message us instead, we keep what you tell us for the same purposes and on the same basis.

When you buy from us. We keep a record of what was ordered, what was delivered, and when it was paid for. Card details are handled entirely by our payment provider and never reach us — we see only enough to know that a payment succeeded and what it related to. Our lawful basis is the performance of our contract with you, and our legal obligation to keep accounting records.

When you book tutoring. One-to-one AutoCAD tutoring is arranged and kept track of in the same way as any other work we do for you, and nothing else is collected. We do not record tutoring sessions — no video, no screen capture and no audio.

Automatically, when you visit. Our web server records the usual technical information — your IP address, the pages requested, the time, and your browser’s user-agent string. When you submit a form we also record the IP address the submission came from, and we keep short-lived counters used to rate-limit submissions and block sources that abuse the form. We use this to keep the site working and to protect it from abuse. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and available.

Cookies

Essential cookies. Our shop uses a single session cookie, so that your basket works while you are using it. It does not require your consent and cannot be turned off. We set no other cookies of our own anywhere on this site.

Analytics cookies. We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use the site, so we can improve it. This sets cookies that record a randomly generated identifier, the pages you visit and how you arrived. You can prevent these cookies using your browser’s own cookie controls. Google acts as our processor for this data; you can read Google’s own description of how it handles it at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

We do not use advertising cookies and we do not track you across other websites.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing.

We share it only where we have to in order to run the service:

  • Our hosting provider, who operates the server on which this site and our email run.
  • Our payment provider, when you pay for work. Card details are handled entirely by them and never reach us.
  • Professional advisers and HMRC, where we are required to keep or produce accounting records.

Marketing

We do not send marketing. We will not add you to a mailing list, send you newsletters or offers, or follow up an old enquiry with anything you did not ask for. If you contact us, you get a reply from a person about the thing you asked about, and nothing else.

Where your information is held

Our servers are in Germany. Our backups are encrypted and held with a cloud storage provider whose facilities are outside the UK. Where information leaves the UK, we rely on the safeguards required by UK data protection law for those transfers.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that don’t become work — 12 months from your last contact with us.
  • Files you send us for quoting — 12 months from the quote, unless the work goes ahead.
  • Files and records relating to work we carry out — six years from the end of the relevant financial year, which is the period we are required to keep business and tax records for.
  • Server logs — a rolling period of up to three years.

The periods above apply to our live systems. Our backups are taken automatically and retained on a rolling schedule of up to three years, so a copy of something we have deleted — whether at the end of one of the periods above, or because you asked us to — may persist in an encrypted backup until that backup expires in the normal cycle. We do not use backup copies for any purpose other than restoring the service after a failure.

How we protect it

The site is served only over an encrypted connection. Files you send us are stored outside the public area of the web server, so they cannot be reached from the internet, and they are saved under names we generate rather than under the name you sent them with. Access is limited to those who need it to do the work. Our backups are encrypted.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected if it is wrong, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable form. Where we rely on legitimate interests, you can object and we will stop unless we have compelling grounds not to.

To exercise any of these, email enquiries@cad-resource.com. We will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, or by calling 0303 123 1113. We would rather you came to us first so we can put it right.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If the change is significant and we hold your details, we will tell you.
